District judge Yvonne Gonzalez Rogers just ordered Apple to follow the previous orders of court or get ready to answer in the court again next month. In short Apple needs to review its decision regarding fortnight and it’s returned to the App Store or it will have to go through the lawsuit all over again. The dispute has been going on for a very long time between Apple and Epic games. And the main reason for the dispute was Fortnite. It all started from the in app updates of Fortnite within the App Store.
Although previously the lawsuit was settled, this recent issue came to light when the epic games were trying to get back into the App Store. They tried to relist Fortnite into the App Store but Apple App Store blocked it completely.
In response, the epic games filed a notion. According to this injunction Epic Games wants to bring Fortnite back to its original platform that is the Apple App Store. The judge completely informed the authorities of Apple to resolve this issue on their own otherwise they will have to proceed through the legal proceedings.
If the tech giant does not resolve this issue then a spokesperson or the main person for the delay responsible will be summoned to the court. This is going to drag the issue further. That’s why they have to resolve it before the next hearing.
According to Tim Sweeney, the CEO of epic games. Apple did not reject or allow the return of Fortnite altogether. Instead, it caused some roadblocks and they want to stay silent until the next ruling of the state ordered that Apple has to go on in the court of California.
The judge wanted to resolve this issue as soon as possible. That’s why she is suing both Apple and epic games to submit their arguments in the court of law. And after reviewing it she will make a complete decision. Until then the ninth grant on order is paused.
All of this started back in 2020. When epic games are still a direct payment. This was going against Apple’s regulations of App Store payments. Apparently Apple has a complete system designed in its App Store which allows it to gain a percentage of the profit that developers get from the App Store.
All of these controversies led to a legal trial. Where Apple was said to relax and chill. As well as make some of its restrictions go away. Because Apple was supporting in-app purchases. But right now after their dispute, some of the rules were changed and the developers were getting direct payments of their apps.
